John Jay Landscape Development has grown deep roots in Westchester County since its formation in 1992. Founder and President Jay Archer, along with his team, has been at the forefront of the move towards natural and ecological landscaping techniques. It only seemed natural that when presented with the opportunity to head up the design development for an eco-friendly landscape for Westchester Magazine's DreamHome 2009, Jay and his team would take the opportunity to create a DreamLandscape to complement the DreamHome.

Prior to the start of the project, the team took the time to thoroughly review the existing landscape design to ensure that it would satisfy two important aspects of the home. One was to preserve the natural feeling of the surrounding area in the scenic town of Armonk, NY. The second was to implement a design that was elegant and reflective of the estate feeling of Westchester Magazine's DreamHome 2009.

John Jay utilized all areas of its expertise throughout the design development process, from restoring a marsh that sat on the edge of the property to satisfy building permit requirements; to creating a naturalistic evergreen screen consisting of native white pines; and creating a foundation bed featuring plants native to the region.

In addition to the landscaping design development, John Jay also served as consultant for the site development, working with the developers to select materials used for some of the home's exterior features including the driveway, patio, and deck materials.

Once again, John Jay Landscape Development would like to thank Westchester Magazine for inviting the John Jay team to participate in the DreamHome 2009 project. John Jay hopes that this great opportunity will allow many people to learn more about the benefits of natural landscaping.
